Furniture made
for your space

Most furniture is built for no one in particular. A commission is different — we figure out exactly what you need, and I build it to those dimensions, in that wood, with that finish.

Tables, shelves, desks, benches, bed frames — if it's made from wood, it's worth talking about. No project is too small or too specific.

The process

How a commission works

01
Tell me what you need
Send a message with your dimensions, how you'll use the piece, and any species or finish preferences. Photos of your space are helpful but not required.
02
Quote & timeline
I'll send back a price and estimated build time within 48 hours. Custom pieces typically run 2–4 weeks depending on complexity and current queue.
03
Build
I source the wood, mill it down, and build your piece by hand. You'll get progress photos throughout so you know exactly where things stand.
04
Delivery or pickup
Local pickup in Chapel Hill, or I can arrange delivery in the Triangle area. Shipping available for smaller pieces like cutting boards.

The maker

Made in
Chapel Hill, NC

Every piece of Grain & Grit Goods starts with locally sourced North Carolina hardwood — white oak from the Piedmont, walnut from small-lot mills, ash and poplar from the foothills.

I hand-select every board, mill it down, and shape it by hand. No CNC, no shortcuts. Finished with food-safe Odie's Oil, Rubio Monocoat, or mineral oil and beeswax depending on the piece.
